On Thursday June 12th at the Vancouver Aborignal Friendship Centre, CJSF 90.1FM will be presenting an event about community and public broadcasting of Aboriginal voices.

Join in for stories and a Q&A from amazing local broadcasters about the possibilities of community and public broadcasting, especially when it comes to highlighting aboriginal, first nations and indigenous voices, who are often marginalized in mainstream media. However, opportunities to participate exist in community and public media and are just a microphone away.

Speakers include include Gunargie O'Sullivan (CFRO, CJSF, Resonating Reconciliation. Red Jam Slam) and Duncan McCue (The National, Reporting in Indigenous Communities).

Light dinner at 7pm, talk starts 7:30pm.
Email CJSFswtr@sfu.ca for questions, suggestions for talking points and to RSVP (not necessary but helps us plan for food and such!)

This event is open to all and will be especially great for those who are interested in community media, or those who are already involved those who would like to know how they can thrive in broadcasting in the future. Experienced community media members working in indigenous communities are welcome to come and share their experiences too!

Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre is located at 1607 E Hastings St (near Commercial Drive).
